I made this photograph while on a flight to the University of Maryland. I was flying down there to teach blind high school students how to program and use LEGO Mindstorm robots for a week-long session. It was an amazing experience.
To me, this photograph is freedom incarnate. The only thing that I’ve wanted since I was a child is the ability to fly. Not in a plane or helicopter. But fly. On my own. There is something about the idea of flying that makes me incredibly happy. I’d give anything to feel the wind rushing by me and to soar through a cloud. Maybe someday, that will become a reality.
