In Progress
the photographs that I have been taking. sometimes paired with (semi)auitobiographical writing and sometimes by themselves

My grandparents ashes.  My stepfather made this urn after my grandfather passed away and when my grandmother also passed, her ashes were also added.  It’s kind of beautiful really; they were together for so long and now they are together for eternity.  We still have to scatter their ashes over the lake that they used to live on.  Unfortunately, that takes a lot of coordinating.  One uncle lives in Florida with his family and another is crazy and refuses to even answer the phone if anyone calls.

It’s kind of funny looking at this photo and knowing that when I took it, it was simply in my parent’s closet.  Just there.  Not on display on a mantle or in our living room.  In a closet.  That side of my family has no religion, no idols, we do not worship.  We cherish the time that we spent with our lost loved ones and we do miss them.  However, we accept their loss and choose to remember them in our own, individual ways.
