VI

This was taken earlier in the day when I was on the drive to the lake. I was on some back road in the middle of nowhere when I saw this sunflower out of the corner of my eye. I turned around and pulled up next to so I could get out and photograph it. I was amazed that this dead sunflower was somehow the only thing left standing in this field after winter had taken its toll. Sure, it was a little wilty at the top but, the rest of it was still standing strong in defiance of Nature. Another interesting aspect of the photograph is how the fields and trees blend almost seamlessly with the sky above them. Everything was so naturally desaturated that day that it made for an interesting photographic experience. If I had been using any other camera, I probably would have hated what the photographs looked like but with this, it’s actually quite pleasing.
